Our first game "TURNIP" has been released in December, 2003. This is a cheerful, entertaining, colorful quest for children based on the motives of Russian fairy tale. The game comprises the set of animated interactive stages, interesting competitions and built-in full screen cartoon movies (more than 15 minutes of full screen (800х600) animation).
There is a basic aesthetic moment of the game which has been rigidly maintained. The style of the game is intended for kids, thus it does not include silly, trite or boring elements, tendencies of "a popular wave". The whole game is created in uniform style: benevolent, comic, folklore. It concerns creation of visual characters and soundtracks.
Well-known Russian fairy tale "TURNIP" was put on the basis of the game script. The primary goal of the player is to help the main hero (Grandfather) to bring up and pull out the turnip.
Fascination of the game for children of younger age group is accomplished due to the numerous professionally made animated scenes. Those help children to understand the game tasks and have a handle on a uniform and easily remembered plot (a shift to each game stage occurs on a new background after narrative cartoon movie).
The game is divided into two stages.
The purpose of the first game stage is to help Grandfather to plant and bring up the turnip. The completion of the stage requires succeeding in 4 consecutive game competitions (moving out the Mole, the air fight of Scarecrow with ravens, well, and a trip to the forest for brushwood).
Second game stage aim is to pull out the turnip. Here the player will stumble upon displeased underground garden mice who are not going to let the turnip be easily drawn at any condition. Grandfather seeks for help and gets it from the "wrong assistants" familiar from the previous quests: the Wolf, the Mole, the Bear, the Hare, and others (according to the story of the fairy tale Grandfather needs help from another characters). All correct assistants appear "blocked" and "to unlock" each one of them the player has to do well in several game challenges (the mill quest, "find differences" quest, the poetry quest, "construct a ladder" quest, mouseball quest, etc.). When all correct assistants appear "unlocked" in the garden, the final competition of pulling out the turnip takes place.
There are also additional obstacles through the game: an elephant comes to the garden and complicates dragging off the turnip, while the correct assistant Little Mouse having taken offence at everyone leaves for the garden mice and should be persuaded to return.
The complexity of the game can be smoothly varied - from the low up to very high. Difficulty level of the number of competitions might be adjusted separately from other game quests. There is also an opportunity to complete the same quest for several times. Moreover, it is possible "to come on a visit to TURNIP" and take part in favorite competitions even when the game is over. At a low level of complexity the built-in cartoon movie is shown after correct completion of the competition and a new competition is automatically loaded.
Full screen cartoon animations that altogether form 15-minute movie reflect sequence of events in the game. There are also 13 interactive stages sated with variously acting characters created in a uniform traditional national style. Appearance of these characters in the game, their behavior and events on the stage depend on actions of the player. After fulfilling a task the player has an opportunity to return and replay it at a different complexity level.
Main features of the game:
1. Eleven built - in logical arcade games focused on development of rational and spatial thinking as well as on training of coordination and reaction.
2. Interactive stages sated with various hilarious characters.
3. Easily accustomed children-friendly interface.
4. Plenty of full screen cartoon animations that altogether form a movie that reflects the sequence of events in the game.
